Goddamn it!

A cyclist was doored, fell into traffic and was then run over and killed this morning on Sixth Avenue. Of course, no charges were brought against either driver, not even for dooring, which is a ticketable offense. Why is it that the police often seem to be the least informed when it comes to the law? I realize that what happened here is much larger than someone getting a ticket but it's inidicative of the City's attitude towards cycling, well at least the police's: "Cars are blameless". Driving a car is a privelege most people don't deserve and New York has got to start holding drivers accountable for their negligent actions.

More at Streetsblog. It's worth looking at to see how ridiculously and shamefully this event was reported by The Daily News and 1010 Wins.
